As seen on the home page of this website, I am a pre-dental Biology Major here at Towson University. I also have a minor in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and Bioinformatics, or in short “MB3.” I am the treasurer for the Dental Club here at Towson and in the near future, I plan to use these degrees and experience to help me on my career goals of becoming an esteemed Dentist.
I have wanted to become a dentist since I was 5 years old. I use to always love going in for my checkups. The world has created a stereotype that all kids hate the dentist but I feel like I was the complete opposite. I enjoy(ed) the environment set by the dentist and I hope I can provide people with that same enjoyment that I feel.
There are many types of dentist that one can become and the main fields of dentistry that I am looking into are:
These dentists work to provide the correction of teeth and any possible jaw irregularities. Their primary job is to design and use orthodontic appliances to realign teeth and jaws in order to allow for normal functioning and to improve appearance (for example, the job of braces).
Periodontists look after your gums and make sure that they function accordingly in supporting your teeth, so they are more focused on the supportiveness of the gums.
Below I have included some pictures of myself in places I have shadowed in the past and some awards I have won for dental-related programs:
