I am aspiring music journalist and after watching the series, “Hip Hop Evolution,” on Netflix, I knew I wanted to introduce hip hop into my career choice. The film opened my eyes to the different avenues of hip hop and how rich and deep the history is. It also taught me a lot about being African American and how important that is as well. Our influence on the culture is so strong and it is something that more people need to learn about. Sometimes the true meaning of hip hop can be lost in the many different things it offers but I aspire to show people how deep African American culture is in hip hop and the true original meaning of the genre. I hope to have my own radio show or be a TV personality that will give a platform for artists to be heard. I have experience in audio already and I am looking to expand my knowledge of radio and audio. There are many negative connotations to hip hop and I aspire for my future show, work and career to debunk these connotations and show the true meaning of the genre.
