This is an example of text type with an interesting alignment treatment. This is a portion of page 75 from the May 2024 issue of Bon Appétit magazine.
The alignment is justified text within an oblong semi-circle shape meant to mimic an upside-down wine glass. If you see it with the entire magazine spread, it makes more sense but seems a little awkward when taken out of context. Either way, I think it is a fun way to play with text type for “The Drinks Issue” of this magazine.
This type alignment is so unique!
I love the arch shaped text, and I admire that it still looks clean and symmetrical.
One thing is this unique text shape is a bit hard to read, for me personally.
I agree, Julia. While it is visually interesting, it does make the text difficult to read.
