Ellicott City

Ellicott City is where I was born and raised. Ellicott City is a representative how Maryland’s historic past and how it remains today. Ellicott City was founded in 1772 by three brothers, Andrew, John, and Joseph Ellicott. The brothers created a flour mill along the Potaspaco River, soon becoming a thriving industrial center. Ellicott City represented a transportation center, with the creation of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. Much of Ellicott City’s historic charm can be seen on its Main Street which is a great place to visit.
