Kentaro Miura was born July 11, 1966, in the Chiba, Japan. He took a liking to art very young, he created his first manga at the age of 10 called Miuranger which displayed the raw talent that he had from a young age. This was the spark that began the fire within him.

 

In high Kentaro Miura was a talented artist and manga creator who enrolled in the art program at school to hone his skills. He received positive feedback for his work and even had some of it published in a fan-produced magazine for aspiring talent. In 1985, he was accepted into Niho Daigaku University, where he obtained a degree in the arts. Here, he created a manga that gave him credibility and was published in the highly competitive Shonen Magazine, which was a huge honor for any artist.

 

At only 21 years old, Miura created and began the serialization of his greatest work to date – Berserk, which is considered to be one of the greatest pieces of storytelling and art. Berserk became one of the best-selling manga of all time, and Miura received several awards, including The Excellence Award of Hakusensha’s Densh Shoseki Taishō and the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize.

 

Miura continued to work on Berserk and other small projects for 32 years until his untimely death in 2021 due to heart complications. His passing shook the communities, but many tributes were held to honor the legend.
