Asian Typography

This is an example of Asian typography. This is a sign for a closed restaurant called Hip Hot in Monterey Park, CA. It was a Sichuan seafood restaurant.

It is located in an area with many Asian cuisine options, including Gram Cafe & Pancakes and 1919 Noodle Express. I like the typeface chosen for this sign, it’s reminiscent of brushstrokes that you might find in Chinese calligraphy. I also like the addition of the crab, done in a similar style, so it is clear what the restaurant serves.
