Nature photography encapsulates a variety of styles in itself. Landscape photos involves taking photos that brings a viewer into a scene. These photos can be natural scenes or urban and manmade environments. Wildlife photography is very intense as photographers may spend hours waiting for one shot of an animal wandering into the frame. These animal wildlife photos can also be in rural or urban areas. Also included under nature photography is astrophotography which may include using a telescope to get detailed photos of space. Astrophotography is very challenging and humbling as the camera settings must be perfect for the conditions as this can make or brake the photos. Other nature photography includes underwater, aerial, scientific, and macro photography.
People Photography
The most common form of people photography are portraits. Portrait photography captures the essence of a subject(s) (either posed or candid) by using artistic skills and creativity. Documentary photography is another type of people photography that conveys news or information through the images. Sometimes documentary photos can be so striking that it crosses into an art form or cause viewers to have an emotional reaction. Travel photography is one of the broadest types of people photography. Travel photography aims to share the striking differences among people and places across the world making viewers feel more connected and aware of how people live. There are many more types of people photography like event, street, commercial, and pet photography.
Manmade Objects Photography
Manmade objects photography includes product photography, real estate, and food. Product photos are typically shot in a studio with controlled lighting, backgrounds, and positioning. The photographer’s goal is to match the goals and vision of thee company. Real estate photography requires precision to ensure lines are straight and appealing, windows are not over exposed, and the essence of the space is emphasized in all their photos. The fastest growing manmade objects photography genre is food photography. Food photographers capture their subjects in the most appetizing way possible. These days, sometimes photographers replace food with artificial substitutes that look more tasty (e.g. shaving cream instead of whipped cream or glue instead of milk for a bowl of cereal). Other forms of manmade objects photography include still life, and architecture.
