1. Location
- Having the right location plays a major role. You don’t want your plants to be hidden from the sun. Also place your garden where you’ll be able to see it regularly (out of sight, out of mind definitely applies to gardening)
2. Follow the sun
- Pay attention to how sunlight paves through your yard before choosing a spot for your garden.
3. Stay close to water
- Put your new garden near a water source. Make sure you can run a hose to your garden site, so you don’t have to lug water to it each time your plants get thirsty.
4. Research your soil
- Do your research on which soil is the best for your garden! There are lot of affordable soils, and fertilizers that are packed with nutrients!
5. Choose the right plants
- It is important to know your plant needs and to also judge your commitment to your plant. Some plants can be overwhelming for beginners so it is important to know what you’re getting into.
6. Learn your frost dates
- Planting too early or late in the season can create disaster for your garden. Know your planting seasons so you don’t accidentally kill plants by putting them out prematurely.
