Self-Titled Tour

Now I love all the concerts that I’ve been to. However, this one falls very low on the list and let me tell you why. This concert was at the Anthem, which is a venue located at the Wharf in Washington D.C.. That means this was a “standing concert”, one that’s not at a stadium or arena, and requires you to stand or pay extra for balcony seats. These smaller venues are for smaller artists, and I’ve been to one before, but it was this concert that solidified my hatred for standing concerts.
It was hot and we were standing for what felt like forever and it seemed like every time I turned my head, a new person was fainting. Like I said, I’ve been to a standing concert before, but that was in February when it was cold outside. This concert was in the peak of summer and everyone was sweaty and on the verge of a heat stroke while waiting for the artist.
When he finally did come out, I could barely see him. I am not that tall, nor was I going to push my way to the front. I did enjoy the parts of the show that I could see. I mostly enjoy his older music and that’s why I bought tickets. The show itself was lackluster in comparison to the other concerts on this site. There were no backup dancers to compensate for his lack of choreography. There were lots of lights and smoke machines which was cool and did match the vibe he was trying to create.
