Starburst

Starburst started in the United Kingdom around 1960 by Peter Pferrer. He called Opal fruits and he would eventually introduced to the Mars company were they was renamed.

 

Skittles

Skittles were made in Britain in 1974 but came over to America in 1979. The Wrigley company (the same as Starburst) started the campaign of “Taste the Rainbow”. It is rumored that man named Mr. Skittle wondered what the rainbow tasted like. Interesting take on the origin of Skittles.

   

 

 

Nerd Gummy Clusters

Nerds were invented by David Klein. Him and his wife wanted to make a cereal but they made a very favorable candy. In 1976, it become apart of the candy industry.  It would be distributed by willy Wonka candy line.

 

 

Jellybeans

Named Jordan Almonds, they are believe to come from Rome and was a nut covered in Honey. It is also believe that they came from Turkish delights which was a jelly like treat flavor with rosewater and cover with powder sugar in the 18th century. They were not documented till the 1800s and become a common penny candy. They associated with Easter starting in 1930s.
