Nutrition and Rest

Nutrition is a key aspect of exercise and overall health that is often overlooked. Without adequately supplying your body with the fuel that it needs, you will not be able to efficiently work out. Everyone knows to eat “whole” foods and focus on a healthy diet, but something that many people overlook is the importance of protein and carbohydrates. Protein is crucial for muscle repair and growth, while carbohydrates are necessary for energy. Many people believe that carbohydrates are bad, but in reality they are needed. Attached below is a link explaining the importance of carbohydrates.

Along with diet, rest is also very important to overall health. Rest days are required for muscle recovery, injury prevention, and immune system support. A rest day does not mean to not partake in any physical activity, but instead of taking a run, try a low-impact walk or swim.
