- The Treaty of Paris was signed in Annapolis, which ended the Revolutionary War

- George Washington resigned as commander-in-chief in the State House in 1783
- There is a Kunta Kinte – Alex Haley memorial, which represents a character from Roots who was sold as a slave at the Annapolis city docks.
