What Is And Is Not Safe To Download

When using the internet you might need to download a new application. Here’s what usually is and is not safe to download:

Safe to download:

  • Files from trusted sources such as Microsoft and Apple
  • Files from a cloud service that is under your login information such as google drive
  • Files from trusted well known application marketplaces such as the google play store, app store, and steam

 

Not safe to download:

  • Files from sites that have a red flag
  • Files that are not essential to complete the task at hand
  • Files from the spam folder in your email
  • Files from texts that have unknown numbers
  • Unofficial versions of a file such as video game roms or mp3 file
  • Exe files from non trusted sources

If you do download a file and you feel suspicious run it through the website below called virustotal. It will scan the file to see if its a virus and report its findings. Remember: Only download from trusted sources!
