Fashion in the 1980’s began to revolve heavily around denim, bright colors, white accents and accessories. As seen in the picture above, the girls are variety of:

  • wearing white chunky sneakers
  • colorful laces
  • jeans or denim jackets
  • belts, scrunchies, bracelets and thick socks

Checkered prints became extremely popular, especially with the rise of skateboarding fashion and patterns trending in the media.

  • belts
  • heels
  • tops with open cuts for emphasis on collars, necklaces, scarves or cleavage.

hip-hop centered fashion

Hip-hop street style brought out even more “baggy looks” with

  • oversized shirts
  • jackets,
  • layers
  • pants.

This is because hip-hop needed loose clothing for movement.
