It would be a missed opportunity to visit Prague and not have any traditional food or drink. Here are a few recommendations for classic Czech cuisine.

 

svičková

Svíčková:

This is a favorite traditional Czech dish, the full name of the dish is svíčková na smetaně it’s and literally translates to “Beef tenderloin in cream sauce”. The dish consists of slow-cooked beef tenderloin and classic Czech dumplings and is served with a creamy vegetable and cranberry compote.

Kulajda

Kulajda:

A distinctive Czech mushroom soup, “Kulajda” is a creamy soup made with mushrooms, cream, potatoes, dill, and vinegar, and topped with a poached egg. It has a unique sweet and sour flavor and makes a perfect meal on a cold day.

Pečená Kachna

Pečená kachna:

Pilsner

Beer:

Beer holds a special place in Czech culture, with “Pilsner” and “Kozel” being iconic local brews. Renowned for their quality and craftsmanship, these beers are a common sight at the numerous pubs around Prague.

Koblihy:

“Koblihy” are Czech doughnuts, an iconic treat filled with jam or cream and dusted with sugar. These doughnuts are often a staple during the carnival season in winter.
