Elementary education is a profession that has not been valued as much as it should have been. Throughout the years we are not able to notice that teachers not being valued has led to teachers not wanting to teach. Teaching grew too more then was ever expected. Schools used to involve discrimination against races and would only allow white children into the “nice” schools. Children were also not required to attend school. This led to many generations of aliterate adults and created a divide when they were faced with the changing world.
One thing that stays throughout the years the have passed is uniforms, we still have public schools that embody the uniform style that we used to have. They also get to make their own rules and that is how it used to be as well.
In order for us to continue to grow the school system we have to be able to learn how to value teachers. Teacher need to learn how to value the profession and most of all, their students.
