What Is A Cystoscopy?

We often fear getting any sort of procedure done in the area we use to go to the bathroom. But procedures such as a cystoscopy can be done easily and fast, with extremely low risk. A cystoscopy is a procedure where a doctor will insert a cystoscope into your urethra with a small camera on the end. This small camera will take pictures so the doctor can determine if there is any blockage in the bladder. The main reason people get a cystoscopy is after doctor recommendation after seeing symptoms.

Do you fall under the category of people that need to seek out a cystoscopy? This procedure may be needed if you have blood in your urine or you frequently get urinary tract infections. This procedure will allow doctors to see more in depth if there are any problems going on.

You may also need a cystoscopy if you have pelvic pain or an overactive bladder. The photos taken by the doctor can diagnose kidney stones, tumors in your bladder, and even cancer.

Many people are afraid that a cystoscopy is a long process. The reality is that it can take less than five minutes. The recovery time from going under anesthesia is longer than the actual procedure.

Urinary Tract Infections

Urinary tract infections, or UTIs, are the most common infections in Americans. There are many ways to self-diagnose yourself if you think you have a UTI. Your urine can be cloudy, bloody, dark, or have a strong odor. You may also have pelvic pain and it may burn when you use the bathroom. Males can have rectal pain if they are suffering from a urinary tract infection

An untreated UTI can lead to chills, nausea, vomiting, and much more. It can cause an extreme drop in blood pressure, shock, and even death. This happens by the infection spreading into your kidneys and then into your blood

Urinary tract infections can be treated very easily. A simple visit to your doctor can get you antibiotics or antivirals. There are also home remedies that people use to attempt to combat UTIs.

If you feel like you have to pee, just try. Women are eight times more likely than men to get UTIs. Women always need to be more on top of their urinary tract health as to not cause more dangerous problems later down the line, such as a deadly kidney infection or gallstones

A ureterscopy will examine the inside of the urinary tract. It is longer and thinner than a cystoscopy. This is used to remove or break up stones in the tract.

Your bladder is a key part of your body. It is key that men and women take proper care of their bladder so they retain control of it in their lives. Not being able to control your bladder can cause so many problems in your life. You will need extra care, have more expenses, and live a lower quality life.
