I have advanced significantly since the beginning of my term at Towson University. It can be difficult to start over anywhere, but we must always remind ourselves that life is what you make of it. I joined a sorority in my first year of college. Zeta Tau Alpha is a sorority that supports breast cancer research. Because this philanthropy has had such a profound impact on my loved ones, I am passionate about supporting it. Being a part of such a wonderful foundation has given me the opportunity to support my neighborhood and develop my team-building abilities. I even increased my level of participation in the organization and was elected for Director of Member Enrichment. I am able to instruct and mentor my sisters on the value of mental health, time management, leadership abilities, and how to be our best selves in my capacity as Director of Member Enrichment.

I was chosen to intern with Diamond Recruiting as a communications assistant in October 2022. The recruitment firm supports high school baseball players in achieving their athletic career goals. In my role, I create outreach emails to players and their families to schedule a meeting with Coach Holcomb regarding college advising in order to assist them get noticed by institutions. I’ve been able to establish connections using my creativity and professionalism in this job. I’m thrilled I got the chance to use this experience to get ready for a career in public relations.

I was offered a position as an intern on the Field Sales Training team with the prestigious organization, Mutual of Omaha, in the summer of 2023. One of the best decisions I ever made during my undergraduate career was accepting this job. I wouldn’t have believed you if you had told me last year that I would be an intern for a team of financial advisors. I immediately associate “public relations” with everything that has to do with the media and online communities. Along with learning firsthand about the value of PR in the financial sector, I was also able to earn my Maryland Life and Health insurance license by combining field sales work with insurance studies.
