Allow me to walk you through all of my favorite places and items.
Starting off with my greasy go-to: located right off the boardwalk and on the corner of Garfield Parkway and Atlantic Avenue is DB Fries. Where else can you get perfectly seasoned french fries by the bucket? Their menu is enough to satisfy all your cravings, with anything from fresh oysters and grilled Mahi to mozzarella sticks and popcorn shrimp. And you can’t possibly forget about the softshell crabs, it is the East Coast after all.
Next stop is the main course: Armand’s Pizza by the Sea. This is a restaurant a little further from the boardwalk, but worth the walk or the drive. They do delivery, sit-down meals, and pick-up. My family’s favorite items include the steak and cheese garnished with fried onions, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise, deep dish bacon pizza, and fettucine alfredo, but there is so much more to try.
Last but certainly not least is dessert. Head back to the boardwalk because that is where you’ll find Dickey’s Frozen Custard. My order will always be a cone with vanilla custard and rainbow sprinkles, but feel free to order anything off the menu here – it’s all delicious. They do soft-serve swirls with all your favorite combinations: orange cream and vanilla, chocolate and mint, blue vanilla and red raspberry, and many more. Some people may swear by Kohr Bros, but Dickey’s is a lot more bang for your buck. You’ll find yourself amazed at the amount they can swirl into one cone.
This is just one meal I would recommend, don’t hesitate to explore all over. Ropewalk, The Penguin, Baja Beach House Grill, Sunshine Crepes, 3 Blonde Bakers, Candy Kitchen, Mango’s, and Bethany Blues have all earned an honorable mention, and they’re all located right off the boardwalk in town.
