Though Teneika wears many hats, she presently serves as a Lead Analytics Consultant at Deloitte since January 2018. In her role, Ms. Askew brings both functional and technical expertise to the table, particularly in the implementation of Oracle applications. Her responsibilities encompass various areas including solution design, business process analysis, system integration support, and the creation of financial reports and dashboards. Her technical expertise extends to researching Oracle SRs, patch impacts, documenting bugs, and managing deployment schedules for PVT and PROD. Tenika proficiently handles ad-hoc queries using SQL in Oracle Developer for financial reporting data extraction and supports UAT/Regression by writing test scripts/cases during Scrum team development. She formulates training materials and conducts sessions to train Oracle users on multiple application functionalities.

Criteria

  • Using the GS-15 Pay Scale, the salary is between $109,366 to $142,180 per year.
  • A bachelor’s or higher degree in computer science, data engineering, information technology, or a related field.
  • Extensive expertise in data engineering principles, methodologies, and tools, including data modeling, ETL processes, database design (SQL, NoSQL), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), programming languages (Python, Java, etc.), and big data technologies.
  • Networking. Proven ability to lead and manage teams, setting objectives, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Ability to contribute to strategic planning, aligning data initiatives with organizational objectives, and recommending innovative solutions to improve data management and analysis capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of government regulations, policies, and security standards related to data handling, privacy, and compliance. Experience implementing and maintaining robust security measures.
  • Continuous learning.

 

Getting into Tech

Teneika delved into the tech world at a young age, immersing herself in programming MySpace. She gained insights into LimeWire’s intricacies and developed skills in troubleshooting computer viruses that often caused system corruption. Her early career included a stint at Best Buy Mobile. At an event, she was inspired by a conversation with a woman who steered her toward her tech passion. This led her to secure an internship at IBM as a software engineer through a program. Graduating with a B.S. in Management Information Systems from Fayetteville State University in 2014, she directed her career toward consulting.
