Career in Tech
Brie is a part of the over-employment community by working 2 job titles as a Product Owner and Business Analyst respectively at different companies. Many people are working more than one full-time position but rarely can speak of such due to shaming of communities or jobs paranoid they aren’t fulfilling their full potential but that is simply not true. As long as the job responsibilities are taken care of and exceeded, adding on jobs should not be a problem.
Job Roles and Responsibilities:
Business Analyst and Product Ownership can often be interchangeable but there are some key differences:
- Business Analyst: The problem-solver within organizations. They collect, analyze, and interpret data to provide valuable insights and recommendations that help improve business processes, optimize performance, and support decision-making. Their role involves understanding business needs, identifying areas for improvement, and facilitating effective communication between stakeholders and various departments to drive positive change and achieve organizational goals.
- Product Owner: A more fast-paced, senior role compared to a business analyst but with a lot of the same business functions. Product Owners play a key role in the development and success of a product. They act as the bridge between stakeholders and the development team, ensuring that the product meets user needs and business goals. Their responsibilities include defining and prioritizing features, creating a clear product vision, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver a high-quality product. Product Owners also engage in constant communication with stakeholders, gather feedback, and make decisions that drive the product’s development in line with the overall strategic objectives of the organization. Overall, they take ownership of the product’s success throughout its lifecycle.
