About Us

Founded by 10 women at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York on September 18, 1872, Alpha Phi is the fourth Greek-letter organization founded for women, as well as the first women’s fraternity in the northeast. Alpha Phi has been around for 150 years, spreading across the United States and Canada with 173 collegiate chapters.

We were founded at Towson University in 1990 and currently have over 100 active members. We are a group of well rounded women that pride ourselves in giving back to the community, having fun and representing Towson Greek Life the best way possible.

The first Alpha Phi house built in 1886, located at Syracuse University where the sorority was founded. All 10 original members lived in the house.
