The US Open is open for qualifying for any person with a handicap under 1.4, whether that is a high schooler or someone who’s 65 everyone has the opportunity to qualify for the US Open.

In 2023 10,187 people tried to qualify. The top 60 players in Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) are exempt and there are 24 other categories for exceptions. If you are not exempt, you have to go through local qualifying then from there go to a sectional qualifying site. If you get through both stages, then you are in the US Open.
