There are so many different types of procedure that can be perform within the Cardiac Cath Lab. I have listed on the most basic and common procedures that are perform in my specific lab. The lab is open for both regular diagnostic procedures as well as emergency case. While we only work 6:20am – 5pm Monday thru Friday the lab is open 24/7 in the event of an emergency. Regardless of the time or day is a patient is believed to be having an active heart attack the team will be called in and respond accordingly. While there are some days that can be rough due to over working, short staffing, or cases that don’t end with positive outcomes the rewards are amazing. The instant gratification of being able to save someones life within only 30 minutes to an hour gives you a huge feeling or relief and satisfaction that can’t be described. I encourage you to explore the world of medicine and the human body to find something new and take your health seriously.
