Before you even start building a computer you will need all the parts to assemble it.
Computer Case
A computer case is what all your components get fit into. Depending on your budget and brand cases can come with fans, glass panels, and even LED lights. It is important to buy a case that is compatible to your computer parts because not all motherboards, power supplies, and GPUs fit all cases. Even though your computer doesn’t need a computer case to function it is still important as it protect your parts from getting damaged. Computers cases also help with airflow making sure your parts don’t over heat from use.

Motherboard
A motherboard is a circuit board that connects and relays power to all of the computer parts together. It is where all your computer parts connect to one way or another. Some parts are even directly mounted on the motherboard like the CPU, M.2 SSD Drives, and GPUS. It is important to have a good motherboard as it is the heart of the computer and if you ever want to upgrade any computer parts you first have to check if your motherboard is compatible with them.

Memory (RAM)
Memory or known as random-access memory (RAM) is the short term memory where data is stored on your computer. All of the data your CPU needs to run computer processes like your browser, video games, and even background processes are stored in your RAM.

Power Supply Unit (PSU)
The power supply unit (PSU) is what powers your computer. Although your motherboard circuits the power to all your parts, without the power supply you would have no power. It is important to get a power supply that is sufficient for your computer parts.

Storage (SSD, HDD, etc)
Modern storage of the computer usually goes on a Solid State Drive (SSD), Hard Disk Drive (HDD), or a NVMe SSD. They all have different speeds but all function the same which is to store long term computer data. If you wanted to download a video or a computer on your computer it would go to your storage.

Central Processing Unit (CPU)
The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is where all the processing power that the computer uses to work comes from. Every computer process uses the CPU to actually work. The CPU is probably the most important computer part as it helps determines the speed of most computer processes. Many modern CPUs also have integrated graphics built into them allowing them to do GPU processes as well.

Graphics Card (GPU)
The last computer part is the graphics card (GPU). The GPU renders graphics, video rendering, and other application. All though the GPU isn’t needed for the computer to function if you are intending to do video gaming, video editing, graphic design, or graphic rendering a GPU may be necessary.
