According to most travel blogs and frequent travelers of Venice, San Polo or Santa Croce areas are the best places to stay. These areas are still tourist sites, however are out of the main plaza which makes it quieter, and more affordable. It is ideal to avoid staying around the area of Piazza San Marco due to high volumes of foot traffic and high prices. Here is a short list of recommended hotels and accommodations:

  • Al Ponte Antico

It is also recommended to avoid using VRBO and AirBnB websites in the area due to a high rate of scams.

Lets move on to the most exciting part, places to eat!

Venice is full of all kinds of authentic Italian food and because of the location, you guessed it, amazing seafood.  Based on some local travel blogs, it is best to avoid restaurants that have pictures outside. That may sound weird, but these restaurants are tourist traps, which means they have crazy high prices. Here is a list of local approved restaurants:

Lets move into the best attractions to see while traveling in Venice. There are many beautiful buildings and bridges to see so there are plenty of walking tours. Here is a list of some places to tour:

  • Ponte al Rialto, the bridge of rialto
  • Bridge of Sighs
  • Burano, beautiful colored buildings
  • Take a Gondala tour on the canal
  • Visit the Piazza San Marco

When to Travel:

Peak traveling season in Venice is typically June through August so if possible, it is best to avoid this city around this time to avoid surge pricing.
