National Parks

 

 

Namibia is is a land  rich in culture, beauty and  a nation proud of its background and a people as rich in heritage and culture as its rivers are dry and the deserts are desolate. Some of the top 10 areas you must visit include the spitzkoppe outcrop, Sperrgebiet National Park, Skeleton coast park, Fish river Canyon and Namib-Naukluft park. Other must visit destinations include, Damaraland & Kaokoland, Kalahari Desert,Swakopmund & Walvis Bay, Kavango and Zambezi rivers Etosha National Park.

 

Community Tourism Projects

 

 

Communities in Namibia ran different tourist projects and the proceeds from the projects are used to uplift the living standards for the locals. The projects vary from providing camp sites for Tourists to visiting community owned enterprises and visitors can also learn how locals live in a traditional setup. Some of the notable community projects include, Salambala campsite, Ngoma craft centre, Lizauli traditional village, Khowarib Community Rest Camp, Marble Camp site and Puros Traditional Village. Other attractions include Okarohombo Community Rest Camp and  Van Zyl’s Pass Campsite.

Unesco World Heritage Sites

 

 

Namibia is blessed with game parks and nature reserves which constitute some 18% percent of the country’s available surface area. Etosha National Park, focus primarily on wildlife, while others like the Namib-Naukluft Park and Fish River Canyon are more landscape oriented, their natural beauty easily upstaging the game. Regardless, these parks represent a network of Namibia’s most sought-after tourist destinations and often include a wide-range of adventure, camping, hiking and wilderness activities.Other sites of interest include the The Heroes Acre is an official war memorial, Sossusvlei is a large clay and salt pan, Kolmanskop Ghost town and the Hoba Meteorite.
