A must-eat for anyone visiting the upper Chesapeake Bay area are Maryland blue crabs. They have been named the Maryland state crustacean (yes, that’s true!) in 1989. They are easily recognized by their blue hue in the shell, and make an excellent meal steamed just like that or in the form of the famous Maryland crab cakes (there is no better, check links below for recipes). And just like all the other foods in Maryland, they are better with Old Bay seasoning!
