the Emergency department or the (ED)/(ER) is one of the most crucial medical departments a hospital has, they are open 24/7 and provides initial treatment for a broad range of injuries and illnesses with some being life threatening. they are equipped with to deal with a variety of medical emergencies including strokes, severe bleeding, heart attacks and traumatic injuries. when a patient first arrives usually, they are immediately analyzed by a triage nurse to determine how sever their condition is. going off that gauge they prioritize the more life-threatening injuries first and making the patient and in lesser conditions wait a little longer. once the patient gets the chance to be seen by a doctor depending on his/her judgement they’re either sent home with follow-up instructions or admitted into the hospital for further treatment.
