the operating room in a hospital is a specialized room where Docters perform surgical procedures on patients that need it. the room I equipped with multiple and various tools, and machines as well as a plethora of monitors to are all there to assists the nurses, Docters and staff that is there to perform the surgery effectively and safely. operating rooms are made and designed to be free of germs and bacteria which in medical terms means sterile. typically, the doctor, nurses and any other stuff would be wearing paper scrubs or disposable scrubs along with bonnets shoe covers, boot covers gloves and any other protect disposable wear to keep not only the environment sterile but also themselves safe from any blood and other stuff that comes out of the patients. body. after said surgery they’d usually end up in the P.A.C.U for recovery for that purpose the PACU is stations right by the operating room for an easy transfer.
the operating room has 2 main areas.
- Postoperative area- this is where the patient would be before and after the surgery (PACU) where they’d be treated and observed just in case any complications come up like bleeding, infection, pain, etc.
- interoperative area – this is the place where the magic happens. it’s the main area the surgeon, the anesthesiologist and the nurses would be for the surgery.
