BMW originated in 1916 as Bayerische Flugzeug-Werke, originally building aircraft engines, even building one of the world’s first jet airplane engines that the German air-force ended up using in World War 2, but ended up changing the name to Bayerische Motoren Werke in July 1917 and ended up producing motorcycles in the 1920s. One of BMW’s first R32 motorcycles ended up setting a world speed record that was not broken until 1937.

After producing motorcycles for some time, BMW decided to try and move into the small car market but ended up realizing that they could not compete with Voltswagen and their inexpensive automobiles. BMW was not doing good at all, and ended up almost filing for Bankruptcy. Later that year, BMW was able to get out of their financial struggles and ended up introducing the 700 series, and then the 1500 model.
Fast forward to today, BMW has a way bigger selection of SUV’s, Sports Sedans and Hatchbacks such as the 3 series, 1 series, 6 series, 5 series, and some SUV series such as the X3, X5, X7, X6, and X4. BMW also offers a competition series of all of these cars, which are way more sportier and faster compared to the regular series. Their headquarters are in Munich, Germany.
