Childhood Hobbies

With its gentle currents, the Pocomoke River developed into a fishing haven and the setting for many childhood stories. When growing up in this close-knit town, it was defined by the simple pleasure of putting a line in the river and waiting patiently for a tug while taking in the breathtaking scenery. The mysterious and exciting woods provided an ideal setting for creative play and discovery, establishing a long-lasting bond with the natural world.

The activities changed with the seasons. The summer was spent in either Assateague Island, or Ocean City.  Everything from making forts in the forest to riding bikes through Snow Hill’s quaint streets to taking part in neighborhood activities added a little bit to the colorful tapestry of childhood recollections. These encounters cultivated a love of nature and taught ideals of creativity, community, and perseverance.
