While Atlanta had early support for the team, as expected for a new franchise the team struggled. In each of their first three seasons, they lost at least 11 of their 14 games. As time progressed the team slowly improved through the late 60s and early 70s. They improved to a 9-5 record in 1973 led by linebacker Tommy Nobis. They would again go through a rough patch and would not make the postseason until 1978. Where they would lose their first game.

Atlanta has been known for their flashy players. Star Quarterback Michael Vick and Deion “Prime Time” Sanders are just two examples of star players that changed the city’s culture. Both players brought a winning culture and an excitement like no other to Atlanta. Prime Time’s flashy dances and high stepping plays in the endzone after catching interceptions electrified the stadium.
