Baltimore is the home of the illustrious Sports Teams.

Baltimore Orioles: The Orioles are a Major League Baseball (MLB) team that plays in the American League East division. They have won three World Series championships (1966, 1970, 1983) and several division titles.

  • The Orioles are known for their signature black and orange colors, which are also the official colors of the state of Maryland.
  • Current Record: 21-10
  • The team has a live bird mascot, a black and orange-colored Baltimore Oriole named “Boog” after former Orioles player Boog Powell, who is also known for his famous barbecue stand at Camden Yards.
  • Oriole Park at Camden Yards, the Orioles’ home stadium, opened in 1992 and is considered one of the most beautiful ballparks in America. It was the first new stadium built in the retro-classic style, and it helped spark a trend of building baseball stadiums that were designed to look like the ballparks of the early 20th century.
  • One of the most iconic players in Orioles history is Cal Ripken Jr., who played for the team from 1981 to 2001. Ripken broke Lou Gehrig’s record for consecutive games played, with 2,632 games in a row.

Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens are a National Football League (NFL) team that plays in the AFC North division. They have won two Super Bowl championships (2000, 2012) and several division titles.

  • The Ravens have a fierce rivalry with the Pittsburgh Steelers, which is known as one of the most intense rivalries in the NFL. The two teams have played each other more than 50 times, and the games are always highly anticipated by fans on both sides.
  • The team’s mascot is a black bird named Poe, after the famous writer. Poe can be seen at every home game, and he is a popular figure among Ravens fans.
  • The Ravens have won two Super Bowl championships, in 2000 and 2012. In both of those championship seasons, the team had a dominant defense that was nicknamed the “Ravens defense” or the “Purple Reign.”
  • John Harbaugh has been the Ravens’ head coach since 2008. He has led the team to multiple playoff appearances and a Super Bowl championship.
  • The Ravens play their home games at M&T Bank Stadium, which opened in 1998. The stadium has a capacity of 71,000 and is known for its distinctive horseshoe shape and its purple seats.
