National Bohemian

National Bohemian, also known as “Natty Boh,” is a brand of beer that was first brewed in Baltimore, Maryland in 1885. The beer is known for its distinctive packaging, which features the iconic “Mr. Boh” logo, a mustachioed man with one eye closed and the other open wide.

National Bohemian was once one of the most popular beers in Maryland, and it was a favorite among Baltimore residents. It was even the official beer of the Baltimore Orioles baseball team for many years. However, in the 1980s and 1990s, the brand began to decline in popularity as larger beer companies gained market share.

In 2000, National Bohemian was acquired by the Pabst Brewing Company, which has since revitalized the brand and brought it back to its Baltimore roots. The beer is once again popular in the Baltimore area, and it is often associated with the city’s blue-collar culture and working-class heritage. The brand has also gained a cult following among younger beer drinkers who are drawn to its retro packaging and nostalgic appeal.

Today, National Bohemian is available in many bars and restaurants in Baltimore and throughout Maryland, as well as in other states along the East Coast. It remains an important part of Maryland’s cultural heritage, and it continues to be a beloved symbol of the state’s working-class identity.
