Music during the 1900’s was different than in the 1800’s, there wasn’t as many symphonies, and then genres became more vast. Some of the most popular genres were opera, rock, pop, soul, and jazz. During the early 1900’s, American music was very popular since it was post war, like the song “Yankee Doodle Dandy” by George M. Cohen. As time went on new musicians and new genres came around.
Elvis Presley was one of the most popular artists in the mid-1900s, performing mostly rock. People still refer to him as the “King of Rock and Roll.” Instead of standing on stage singing, Elvis was the artist who made it normal to run around on stage and do performances. He was also known for throwing his handkerchief into the crowd.
During the late 1900’s after Elvis was huge, Michael Jackson came around he was another generational talent who ruled the late 1900’s who specialized in pop music. When Michael Jackson came around pop music was really popular because the uproar he had.
