Clinicals
Throughout nursing school, students are required to utilize the knowledge and skills they have learned in both the classroom and lab to conduct real-life patient care in local hospitals. Early on, the main complaint that students have in clinicals is that they are too nervous to enter patients’ rooms. Thankfully, this phenomenon generally fades in time as students gain confidence. Clinicals are often demanding on students since their every move is observed and critiqued by their nursing instructor. However, instructors often understand the burden and hesitation felt by nursing students and will provide encouragement and guidance. Clinical instructors are an amazing resource to utilize, and time with them should not be wasted; take time to ask questions regarding patient care and their experiences in the field. The lessons taught by these instructors will likely follow you into practice.
