Nursing Major

Since entering nursing school, I’ve been approached by numerous friends, nursing school hopefuls, and first semester nursing students about what the requirements are to both enter and survive nursing school. For those hoping to enter nursing school, I always ask them to reflect on their decision and determine how badly they want to become nurses. The COVID-19 pandemic started during my first semester of nursing school; however, this was only a small part of what made the journey difficult. Nursing students spend countless hours in the hospital, in the books, or burying their faces in tissues due to the overwhelming pressure and requirements. There is constantly a voice in the heads of nursing students telling them to quit or that they’re not good enough. Regardless, many are able to push through and enter the most consistently trusted profession in the United States. All nurses have different reasons for choosing this job field. My reason for wanting to become a nurse stems back to my childhood when I would take care of my family members when they were sick.
