Many people recommend not to drive yourself to Washington D.C. unless you are sure you can drive there. Some people choose public transportation via Metro as an easier option to get to Washington D.C. If you must take your car your best bet for parking in DC are parking garages and street parking. Here are a few places you can park at:

  • Paddle Boat Parking Lot
    Located along Maine Ave. SW, this lot offers general parking and handicapped parking
  • Ohio Drive
    Parking is available along Ohio Drive, SW between the Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson Memorials, and in East Potomac Park
  • Hains Point
    Located in East Potomac Park, this area offers approximately 400 free parking spaces 
  • Accessible parking
    Parking is available near the Washington Monument, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, the World War II Memorial, and the Thomas Jefferson, Lincoln, Korean War Veterans, and Vietnam Veterans Memorials
