- First Heart Transplant: The world’s first human-to-human heart transplant was performed by Dr. Christiaan Barnard in Cape Town in 1967.
- Longest Wine Route: The country boasts the world’s longest wine route, Route 62, which runs from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth.
