Nascar: The Evolution
NASCAR, which stands for The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, was founded on February 21st, 1948. Leading the idea was William “Bill” France Sr., along with other drivers who participated in the Daytona Beach race, which took place a few days prior, on February 15th of the same year.
Its origins can be traced back to during the prohibition era, when drivers transporting moonshine or other illegal alcohol had to make adjustments to their vehicles to avoid authorities on backroads.
