Historical Events

Throughout its history, NASCAR have experienced some events that helped make the organization what it is today.

 

1959: The first Dayton 500 is held in Daytona Beach, Florida, later on becoming one of the most notable and prestigious events that the organization holds.

1994: NASCAR made it mandatory for cars to have roof flaps built in to keep the car more grounded, which potentially could have saved many lives.

2001: Dale Earnheardt, a notable figure in the series, dies in the last lap of the Daytona 500 in a serious crash. This was negative publicity as it resulted threw Earnheardt and NASCAR as a whole into public consciousness.
