Now that you know what equipment you need, where to go, and basic etiquette on the slopes, you can start snowboarding! Although snowboarding looks very difficult, it is rather easy once you figure out the main concepts.
First, you need to find out whether you ride goofy or regular. All this means, is which food leads more comfortably when riding. This will show as soon as you get on the board, but if you have rode a skateboard before, then you will already know which is more comfortable. If your right foot is more comfortable on the front of the board, then you ride goofy, but if your left foot is more comfortable at the front of the board, then you ride regular. Most people ride goofy, but it is all dependant upon which makes you feel more comfortable.
Next, in order to ride, you need to know the the entire bottom side of the board should never be on the ground. This may seem confusing at first, but you must understand toe-side and heel-side. Toe-side is when all of your weight is on your toe-edge, and heel-side is when all of your weight is on your heel-edge. The reason we do this is because if your board edge catches the snow, you will get thrown to the ground.
Proper snowboarding technique has you go on your toe-edge, then your heel-edge, then your toe-edge, and so on, alternating accordingly, however it is common for beginners to stay mostly on their heel-edge, because when you are on your toe edge your back is turned to the bottom of the hill and falling is much scarier. My best tip would be to master your heel-edge first, and then master your toe-edge.
Once you understand your toe-edge and heel-edge, you are pretty much set to snowboard! Every other part of snowboarding will come naturally from trial and error, because not all snowboarding techniques work
