Cecil Hotel

The outside, front view of the Cecil Hotel.

The Cecil Hotel is located in Los Angelo’s, California. It holds a reputation for unexpected, or unexplained murders, that occurred either in or around the property and has a history of violence, death, and mystery. The hotel was notorious for adulterous couples, drug activity, and a familiar ground for prostitutes. In 2011, the hotel was renamed to “Stay On Main”, in an attempt to keep the business running. Unfortunately, the establishment ended up closing in 2017  and no longer accepted guests, but reopened as a permanent supportive housing project in 2021.

Haunted History – Many strange accidents, mysterious deaths, suicides, and murders have all taken place within the Cecil hotel. Richard Ramirez and Jack Unterweger, two known serial killers, stayed as long-term residents in the hotel. A huge mystery surrounding the hotel involves Elisa Lam. Video camera footage shows her acting bizarre in the elevators, almost as if she was running from someone, or something. Her body was later discovered in a water tank on the roof of the hotel, classifying her death as an accidental drowning. Residents have reported signs of paranormal activity such as seeing “ghosts” or hearing noises.
