Annapolis Harbor

During the initial colonization of America, wharfs were an essential part of development as goods from ships were the only connection to larger scale infrastructure across the sea. Annapolis’ Harbor can be dated as early as 1634, known as the “historic heart of Annapolis” since it served as the sole access to trade in an otherwise isolated and unfamiliar continent. Over time, Annapolis grew around the harbor and was an important port of industry before being phased into the tourist area and National Historic District it is known as today.

Today, the harbor serves as a large tourist attraction and historical piece of history.
