HISTORY:
The Baltimore Ravens originated in 1996 after the Baltimore Colts left overnight in 1984 leaving the Baltimore area astonished. Art Modell relocated the Ravens to Baltimore from Cleveland creating tons of controversy. Art Modell sold the Ravens to now-owner Steve Bisciotti in 2004. Since the Ravens inception, they have won two Super Bowls during the 2000/2001 and 2012/2013 seasons. The MVP of the 2001 Super Bowl was Ray Lewis and in 2013 was Joe Flacco. They also have 6 players inducted into the National Football Hall of Fame including icons Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, and Jonathan Ogden.
The Ravens play at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, MD.
The Ravens mascot is Poe. A play on Edgar Allen Poe who wrote “The Raven” in Baltimore.
RECENT:
- The Ravens are in the AFC, belonging to the AFC North division. Their other division rivals are the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- Lamar Jackson is the quarterback. He was drafted in 2018 from the University of Louisville. He won the Regular Season MVP title in 2019.
- Justin Tucker (kicker) is the longest tenured Ravens player, he also is referred to as the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) after kicking a 66 yd field goal during the 2021 season, which holds the NFL record.
- The 2022 Ravens defense has sacked the opposing team’s quarterback 24 times through 11 games.
- The Ravens recently traded for Linebacker Roquan Smith from the Chicago Bears in exchange for draft picks and A.J. Klein.
- The Ravens record so far for the 2022 season is 8-4 after a win versus the Denver Broncos. They are currently sitting at the 4th seed in the AFC Playoff picture.
