HISTORY:
The Baltimore Orioles came to Baltimore in 1954 after being in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and St. Louis, Missouri. Orioles legend, Brooks Robinson signed with the team in 1955 and made his debut that season. The Orioles played their games at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore until 1991. In 1966, the Orioles won their first World Series after playing the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Orioles also won the 1970 and 1983 World Series, playing the Cincinnati Reds and the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1992, the Orioles opened up their new stadium Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Camden Yards was influenced by other 1900s ballparks, but also was an influential piece in the design of ballparks today. Some of the Oriole MLB Hall of Famer players are Jim Palmer, Cal Ripken, Jr., Eddie Murray, Brooks Robinson and Frank Robinson. Cal Ripken Jr holds the record of consecutive games played with 2,632 games played. He broke Lou Gehrig’s streak of 2,130 games with Cal’s 2,131 game played at OPACY on 09/06/1995.
