GENERAL INFO:
The Terps are a part of the Big Ten Conference for athletics. They joined the conference during the 2014-15 year. They previously were in the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) starting in 1952. They have won 45 Big Ten regular season or tournament championships in just 8 seasons.
FOOTBALL:
- Current Head Coach: Mike Locksley; Current QB: Taulia Tagovailoa.
- Went 7-5 for the 2022 Season. Qualified for the Bowl games and is playing in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.
- There have been 236 Maryland Terp football players drafted in the NFL dating back to 1937. Some of the most notable are Torrey Smith (BAL), Stefon Diggs (BUF) and D.J. Moore (CAR).
- The Terps have only won one national title, in the 1953 season.
MEN’S BASKETBALL:
- Current Head Coach: Kevin Williard.
- Is currently 8-0 and is ranked #13 in the AP Poll for NCAA DI Basketball.
- The Terps most recently won the national title in 2002 behind Juan Dixon.
- They also won the Big Ten Regular Season Conference Title in 2020.
- The Terps have 71 NBA draftees dating back to 1948. Some of the most notable include Len Bias, Juan Dixon and Jalen Smith.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL:
- Current Head Coach: Brenda Frese.
- Is currently 7-3 and is ranked #20 in the AP Poll for NCAA DI Women’s Basketball.
- The Terps most recently won the national title in 2006.
- They have become the 12th DI program to reach 1,000 wins. This happened in 2019.
- They have also played in 27 March Madness tournaments.
- There have been 18 WNBA draftees coming from Maryland.
