- Habitat Loss: Humans have moved more into their territory, causing the gorillas to live farther up in the mountains and experience dangerous and lethal conditions.
- Disease: When mountain gorillas come into contact with humans, they are susceptible to human diseases, which gorillas experience in worse forms. Mountain gorillas can die from the common cold.
- Charcoal: In Virunga National Park, humans have illegally harvested charcoal for fuel, destroying gorilla habitats.
- Poaching: Mountain gorillas can get caught in the crossfire by hunters out for other animals.
