Mohinga

A staple throughout the country, the simple dish of rice noodles covered in a fish-based broth, topped with deep-fried fritters, is a must-try for any trip to Myanmar. Many patrons enjoy the food with additions of lemongrass, ginger, fish sauce, lentils, and vegetables. The filling dish is synonymous with the country and is enjoyed all over.

 

Laphet Thoke(Green Tea Salad)

Another dish synonymous with the country of Myanmar the dish is comprised of mainly fermented tea leaves. The salad is a mix of shredded cabbage, crunchy deep-fried beans, sliced tomatoes, nuts, peas, fermented green tea leaves, and a bit of garlic oil. The dish also contains a hint of caffeine so consumers must be wary not to enjoy the dish too late in the evening.

 

Shan Noodles

Sticky rice noodle with chicken tomato sauce and lots of flavourful garlic, chili, and pickle toppings, the dish is enjoyed all over the country. The Dish originates from the Shan State, Eastern Myanmar, and has gained popularity among neighboring nations. Many places in Chinese Yunnan province and Chiang Mai in Thailand all have their own unique variations of the famous dish.
